ACCIONA in Canada

+20 years in the country, responding to the challenges facing our planet

HUMANITY'S GREATEST CHALLENGE

In Canada, the effects of climate change are already being felt. From extreme weather events to an increase in the severity of wildfires, rising sea levels, along with less visible effects such as increased acidity and reduced oxygen levels in the oceans.... All these contribute to the deterioration of the ecosystem and the planet and puts humanity in a critical situation, an emergency that needs to be faced. The infrastructures that we develop today determine society’s development capabilities and, to a great extent, also define what we will be tomorrow.

The availability of transport, communications, electricity, clean water, sanitation and other basic facilities, has a transformative impact on improving the quality of life and well-being of people. Their capacity to integrate and restore the natural environment determines if they will be a solution or the problem for the future generations.

ACCIONA: an ally of the solution

In ACCIONA we act in order to respond to this urgent sustainable transformation. Though our solutions, we create infrastructures that respond to the evident climate emergency, which may regenerate the habitats of the planet and create more and better opportunities for everyone.

Long time experience

+ 20 years in Canada

In Canada, we have successfully delivered major infrastructure projects  since 2000. Our leadership and experience span the entire value chain, from research and development to construction, operation and maintenance of projects.

Currently, ACCIONA is upgrading the City of St John's water distribution system, as well as designing, building and financing the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant in Vancouver, building the Pattullo Bridge (Canada), a four-lane bridge connecting New Westminster and Surrey, and is currently building the Broadway Subway extension of Vancouver's Millennium Line.

As for ACCIONA Energía, it owns three wind farms in Canada: Lamèque, in New Brunswick, and Chin-Chute and Magrath, in Alberta. The company has also built the 102 MW South Canoe wind farm for third parties, the largest in the province of Nova Scotia, where it also provides operating services.
